la danse de l hibouthe fourth release with bucketround follows the path left by his past references, not disregarding the exploration of new horizons. oval future face (bucketround recs) grants us his peculiar way of understanding electronic music. avoiding the hype or settled guidelines la danse de l hibou brings us right in the middle of the night where nocturnal birds of prey hunt. we are in front of his deepest work so far, full of details and rhythmical shifts shrouded in minimal sound with its own soul... as if it was meant to be just for this work, it is apt for lounge listening, dancefloors or even forests. the re mixes collection does not fall short on quality: pablo bolivar (regular) as usual everything he touches turns into gold and this time pablo does not disappoint. nimble groove full of hectic changes and sudden pauses enriches this melodic remake. a real dancefloor hit. angel galan (add sensor) theres no rule for crafting remixes and angel is the clearest example. an amazing explosion of multicolor strokes transformed into tangled logic sound.

new barcelona label they are changing it, first ep comes from barcelona based american dj/producer and label boss dia. the past 12 months were very important for her as she started another succesful label, vinyl did it. this ep truly represents dias sound, very musical, well layered, and with a touch of melancholy, yet strong and driving, with simple yet effective basslines and strong percussion, ready to take on any dancefloor.

watch ya feet is a beast with two heads as not one to do things by halves gavin has presented not one but two mixes, which both reflect the mood and scene of each of his homes. on the berlin mix, gavin captures the innocent late night energy and rawness of a berlin dancefloor. the twisted bassline, eerie tech house groove and warped noises roll along while the chicago-esque horns shriek out over the chaos. the london mix truly conjures up memories of londons finest venues, whether it be fabric or the end through to the afterhours of kubikle and retox. the groove here is a lot crisper than the german offering with the horn hook taking the to a euphoric climax. ewan pearson is one of the most highly acclaimed producers / remixers around, with past work including goldfrapp and the chemical brothers. his remix is one of pure energy as the track is transformed, through flawless production, into a sinister powerhouse of rising electro-techno that would feel at home in the sets of the likes of smagghe, weatherall, richards and mayer to name but a few.

bananza music is back! after a two year break one of the usas most respected underground house labels is set to relaunch in february 2009 with new remixes of one of their biggest past records, trademarqs broken wagon. the remixes come courtesy of chicago legend derrick carter, bon johnson, marko militano and the bald & the beautiful. bananzas ethos has always been to develop new talents alongside the industrys greats, something in evidence on broken wagon remixes, with the likes of derrick carter sitting alongside the up and coming the bald & the beautiful. the vinyl will be released soon with digital following. future releases in 2009 are lined up from joshua iz (from iz & diz) and the production duo of jt donaldson & cpen.

arnaud e mathieu is a well known figure of the parisian french house scene, hes a great dj and can play anything between deep house & techno. arno also runs his well respected label clima. i really enjoyed playing his recent release lamb of sun, on real tone. his past releases received support from great djs such as joe clausell or danny krivit. arno recently played me some of his productions demos and i really liked soil, he then did a great job in finishing it up and making it a dope club track! when playing this track to argy he really liked it and added his magic touch on final eqing! i hope you will enjoy this release as much as we do here on drh! dj deep

invaders must die is the prodigys 5th album, and is 40 minutes of having your head battered by future nostalgia, serotonin levels twisted by feel good horrorcore and your synapses snapped by whiplash attitude. its the sound of the prodigy mixing up genres, contorting the past and rewiring the future, ram raiding through the tranquility of musics status quo like a blot on the landscape of englands dreaming.

when we first started thinking about the compilation, we had in mind the idea to put together a great minimal techno selection with stuff from the early 90s, which really inspired us, like robert hood, dan bell, plastikman, pansonic and mike ink to name a few. whilst working on the project we had the feeling that there is so much more great and influential minimal music from way before the techno thing started. so we were very excited to combine the music from the electronic pioneers, with the tracks from the minimal techno godfathers in a very modern way. in minimal music there is so much (space) in between the sounds and the space that gives you a lot of opportunities for an own interpretation. the grandfather paradox is a scientific theory about time travelling and was first described by the science fiction writer rene barjavel in his book - le voyageur imprudent. we took suggestions out of that because we felt like we are travelling back in time and manipulating the old music with modern knowledge. the fact that we did all this with the deserved respect to the originals makes us quite sure that the results are bringing something new and interesting to the old tracks and transport the past into the here and now. - henrik schwarz, ?e & dixon

rudolf has been on fire for the past few months, most notably with a solo album and a collaboration ep with partner in crime cesare vs disorder on pheeks acclaimed archipel label. this time he delivers the goods with delicacy, solid grooves and bouncy club music on his mind. the productions on this 4 tracker (one available only digital) all have a common feature: structured with beautiful, refined sounds. guitar improvisations here and there, soulful vocals in and out and deep basslines. the whole ep is decorated with an ongoing tribal feel, sexy, percussive rhythms and rubbery noises that tease the listener all the way through. this jackin and funky ep splits in the border between techno and house, and will instantly seduce clubbers all around the world.
